HID conversion issues. help?

So i have a cheapo ebay conversion kit. (no projectors... ftl, i know) Recently my left headlight has been giving me issues. It'll cut out randomly, and sometimes when I hit bumps, and when i turn the headlight switch off and back on, 99% of the time it comes right back on, but sometimes flickers a bit at first. I checked all connections, they seemed solid, and questioning the ballasts, i swapped them. Same problem, same left light.

Not knowing where else to turn while i still had daylight, I got in the zone, and asked the kid that worked there. He seemed to know what he was talking about, and said he solved the same problem in his car by cutting the cheapo watertight connectors on the + and - wires coming off the bulb, and soldering the connection instead, cuz he said the connectors are junk. I did that, and the problem is much less frequent, but still is happening. Left headlight every time. Any ideas of what else i should check??

If yours came with a harness, I guess you could double check if the ground wire is properly grounded on the harness(maybe sand down the grounding point a bit). That is the only thing I can think of

I have a question on the ABS light in a 2001. I read where you can reset it if you ground pin 9 three times in 12 seconds, but mine won't clear. What am I doing wrong?

have you tried swapping bulbs to see if it follows the bulb, this way you know that the balast is eliminated, and you can narrow down whether it's the connection somewhere or the bulb itself

Hey anomaly117 did you ever find out what was causing this problem,

I am having the exact same problem on my 2000 Max,

The left headlight is giving me the same symptoms as you described.
I thought it was the ballast, I made the seller send me a another new ballast, worked for a week and went back to the same problem.

Please let me know if ever got the lights to work fine,

Thanks a lot,

figured it out, but i need to get a new kit. the terminals on the control module that supply power to the right headlight have that lovely bluish white oxidation all over them; leading to an inconsistent connection. Ive done every thing i could think of/read about to try to get them clean, but alas.

check those terminals, and clean em if you can. then protect them with dielectric grease to prevent it from happening again. maybe theres still hope for yours. gl.
