Oil Cooler issues??
Hey, so I've recently purchased my new 2003 Nissan Maxima. I drove it to some friends house to learn that some oil was leaking. I had to find out so I got underneth the car and found out it was coming from the oil cooler assembly. I would just like to know is this a common problem. I replaced the o-ring, but still having the same problem. Thinking about picking up the oil cooler assembly hopefully this should fix.

I had the same issue a couple of years ago. I bought a new cooler and replaced it myself in no time at all. No leaks since. Here's some info from a post I made about it at the time:
I have some more info for those that are interested. The part number for this cooler is 21305-8J100. Called a "Nissan Cooler Assembly".....my local Dealership here in the Atlanta area wants $371.76 for it....but if you Google that part number you get just one hit....Courtesy Nissan in Texas....and their price is "only" $242....so it's a $130 less from them.

GOt a oil leak at the oil cooler myself, was wondering if they sell them on ebay or amazon or is this a dealer only item?

I could grab one for you from a wrecker for less than $100 shipped if you really want one. Of course you could always do that yourself if you have a pick n pull nearby

Did you make sure the O ring was seated correctly? Take off the coolant hose on the right side (and the bolt for the hard line), then you can pull back the cooler all the way to make sure it's seated correctly. You can't see it if you just remove the nut.
It's impossible to leak from the backside except from the O ring.

The pumps don't leak, but both hoses will.

Hi, my daughter I35 2002 as a oils leak and looked like was coming from the pan it self as the previous owner had already done work and broke a screw and just added a metal/wood screw. I have removed the pan and the broken screw and the wood screw, clean the thread, applied new seal gasket and the leak was back.
I thought would be the pump, but I think the pump lis internal and after some search, I have found this threat, this may also be the problem on my daughter cars.
Can someone please tell me how to replace that o-ring please.
Thanks in advance.

I have found how to do it.
I removed carefully the new oil filter and removed the cooler.
I plugged both hose ends so I wouldn't loose the already new coolant.
I cleaned well the joints and added some grey gasket.
installed and tighten to the touch, an hour later torqued to 53NM.
Reinstalled the filter after about 3 hours and will start the car tomorrow and top the oil and check for leaks.
