Wire problem

So I thought my brake light was out but when I replaced it...nothing. So I looked at as much of the wire as I could and it seemed ok, but I know very litty about wiring.

What a time to learn though! How can I tell if I need to buy a new wire kit or maybe just that little plastic harness or what?

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Why would you ever go to the dealer? 99% of what the dealer can do, independent/chain shops do, but cheaper.

Do all of your other brake lights work? Have you tested for voltage at the connector with the brakes on?

all other ones work and I swapped bulbs to make sure the bulbs were good. I correct what I wrote, no intention of going to the dealer lol. IDK how to check the voltage or anything like that. Like I said, wiring/electronics such as this is new to me.

You need a multimeter, or at the very least a test light, and test for voltage at that connector with the brakes on. That's the first step.

Alright I'll try to take care of that tmro morning. I thought since no bulbs worked in that spot then there was obviously no voltage

Just remembered something. I got bumped about a month ago and some shop replaced my bumper. That was when the "bulb" went out. What could they have done when doing my bumper???
