paint job?

right now its gold and i wanna keep it that color because it cost
over $1,000 to change the color. I went to macco and got a quote to
repaint it the same color and it came out to be around $800. has anyone
ever had a macco paint job?

Run, don't walk, away from Maaco.
All you will get is an $800 paint job that includes orange peel look and tons of overspray and poorly taped off molding etc...

UHOH...Better get paint yo

You're def taking chances with a Maaco paint job, they may have some guys that can lay good paint, but odds aren't in your favor. I've seen some look like a rattle can spray job and some look decent, but I've yet to see one that I would call "great".

I had a car painted at Macco...had to be repainted entirely at initial pickup, I refused to accept what they gave me. They really did a horrible job the first time, long list of issues.

Anyway, second time around didn't look half bad, but I didn't pay for a clear coat, and the whole thing started to dull out at bout 14 months old, out of warrantee of course. I don't know if the clear would have helped, it probably was substandard material not much different then the paint...

I'd say you're better off finding a good body shop, get a quote for a paint job there, and get at least a 3 year warrantee. Me personally I'll NEVER go back to Macco...

YGWUP4 wheather it's Maco or any other shop.
An $800 paint job is just that.
A $3,500 paint job is just that as well.

Which one do you think will look better?

MACCO NOOOOOOOOOO all they do is scuff the paint and spray it. I have seen them not remove the license plate frame they masked it off and sprayed it. a real body shop will take the time to pull evrything apart, and remove all the original clear coat not just scuff it. macco is cheap cuz they dont do the labor that needs to be done to make the paint stick right and to not have the orange peel in the paint.

If u got the ***** for it u can key it call the cops and report a vandalism to the insurance company. But its a risk if u get caught

A factory quality paint job is going to run you $3000 and up. There are no short cuts to doing it right and price shopping is not the way to go. Trust me on this. I detail cars for a living and see some absolute crap body and paint work. $100+ a fender for me to fix, if it can be fixed.

So basically you're broadcasting/advising someone in a PUBLIC forum to commit insurance fraud? That's real smart. Real real smart.

Maaco

I had Maaco repaint my car last year, same color (charcol) after a small accident left me with badly scratced doors. Went for the top of the line job costing about $1,200.00. They claimed to sand to primer and repaint. I don't believe they did this since the car was done within 2 days of me dropping it off. It wasn't all bad

The good: They did a very good job taping the car. Still have yet to find any overstray. No orange peel, 5 year transferrable warranty, and it looks decent when not in direct sunlight. However...

The bad: Holy glitter Battman! Their metal flake is nothing like the factory paint. The flakes are much bigger and a variety of colors, so it looks like the car was sprayed with the glitter a 6 year old puts in her hair. Only really noticable in direct sun but annoying. They also painted over the Grill and the mirrors, so they are now colormatched, for better or worse.

Was mine all bad, no. Would I do it again, no. But gl finding a decent paint job anywhere near $1k

macco is good for when your trying to sell your car and you don't give a sh*t about it anymore, i was selling my eclipse which had crazy sun damage being a 8 year old black car, they painted my muffler black, springs and shocks also had black paint on them so bottom line is if you want quality than go somewhere else
