I need help!!! car running in limp mode

I have a 2000 maxima. I just replaced the battery and the car starts up fine and runs fine. I go to give it gas and it runs slow. It has no power or pickup. Its like its running in a safe mode of some kind. Does anyone know what could possibly cause this issue?

Sounds like you might have jostled the MAF when you changed the battery....they're pretty fragile and go bad easily on 2000's. Are you throwing an SES light?

^ what irish44j said. I've had this with a '00 GXE, when you accelerate slow it goes, but if you try quicker acceleration it almost 'bogs' down and accelerates very slowly. Try to test your MAF with a voltmeter- see if it is doing what it is supposed to be doing.

Too bad i just sold an E60 MAF, but I'm sure you will find one.

GL

PS: '00 GXE did not have an SES either..

its your MAF most likely. Delete the other thread, idk why you would post once, and then post the exact same thing half an hour later. this forum can't be checked 24/7 so be patient.

if you know anyone else with a 5th gen maxima/infiniti i30/i35 then borrow their MAF sensor and see if your luck improves.

otherwise your only other option is to visit the dealer.

i think the E60 MAF is a cold-wire sensor, meaning it outputs an oscillating frequency to the ECU. So there is no real way for You to test it, unless you have an oscilloscope laying around. The only thing you could test is that it is getting a 5V dc power between + and ground terminals. But I suggest you go the the stealership/a good mechanic who can test it for you and give you a repair estimate (usually free, although highly unlikely in this economy.) GL
