Got Rid of My Front End Clunking, Rattle, and Squeak

This past week I replaced my say bar bushings, strut mounts, strut mount bearings and sway bar links. I did so because I had been experiencing a front end clunking noise for a long time and just recently a squeaking and rattling noise as well.

As you can see below I had to cut one nut off of each sway bar link. I used a Dremel tool and a cut off disc to get them off. Each end of the sway bar link on the drivers side had play in it. One end of the passenger side link was starting to develop some play. Also you can see the drivers side strut bearing was in three pieces when I removed it. The other bearing was in fare shape. If you look closely at the strut mount on the left, you can barely see it in the inner groove at the 10 o'clock to about the 4 o'clock position, but the rubber coating is worn away.

All of the replacement parts were from Moog (Federal Mogul-made in China). I purchased them from Rock Auto. I searched extensively and they had the lowest price.

The result is as the title says. I no longer have any front end noise. It sounds rock solid. The car currently has approximately 110,000 miles on it and it has been driven primarily in Pittsburgh, PA and Metro Detroit, potholes galore.

Good job. The daughter's 2K Max had a noise which turned out to be the stabilizer link that the dealer couldn't locate. I also installed the Moog links with the grease fittings and all is well.

I already did my sway bar endlinks and bushings, I just ordered the MOOG strut bushings and will be installing them next weekend. Gotta get rid of that rattle.

Nice. I need to do my endlinks and bushing as well.

Replaced my ball joints last month and my mechanic said my endlinks aren't looking too great.

I did the moog swaybar endlinks and bushings a few months ago and man what a difference. The front end was so quiet. Now I am getting another clunking noise which I am pretty sure is my strut mounts. I've changed my struts twice and never did the mounts. I had blues and felt they were too soft and then brought new OEM struts from nissan and I should have done the mounts then....Live and learn
