ecu removal

Can anyone tell me how to remove the ECU?

Release the harness...

You need to remove 4 screws on the sides of the ECU (2 in front and 2 in rear). Good luck!

If it just like the 4th gen's then there's a phillips head screw at each corner of the ECU. My advise is to go to Sears and get a small rachet phillips head screw driver("T" shape). It's about 4" long and runs about $6. Getting to those screws is very hard because there's no space.

You will need to remove the small panel from each side of the center console that is located in each footwell. From there the screws are along the firewall and opposite side(center console). You need to pull the main connector which is secured with a 10mm head bolt..I think. When re-installing that make sure you snug the bolt down and not to over torque it otherwise you'll crack the plastic wire housing.

Good luck because it's about 30-45 minutes of work with you on your knees.
