Gauge set.

I have a question for all you guys. I was dirving my car at about 140mph. Someone had told me to "becarefull because you dont know how much presure your engine can take without a gauge while driving at a high speed." So now im wondering what kind of gauges should i get so i would know the max presure my engine can take because there are various ones and each one is for something different. I know that there are a lot people who have them on their maxima and for those of you who do, please help me out in picking the right one and any tips on where to locate it. i know some would sell them is sets of three but idk nothing about em. If anyone has any pictures please post them up. it would help alot. Thanks guys.

BTW my mods are Hotshot headers, test pipe, a custom 3" magnaflow cat-back, and injen short ram intake. Idk if this would reflect the gauges i want to get.

I wonder what kind of gauge he was referring to. Maybe a light speed gauge? LOL

it wouldn't be a bad idea to install a boost gauge just in case someone installed a turbo or s/c without your knowledge.

is this thread for real?

I think that's what the RPM is for, and REDLINE. you're not turbo'd or sc. You don't need gauges unless you just want to put them up to look like you're boosted, or riced. Depending how you car looks.

How about taking the money for that pointless gauge, and investing in reinforcing your frame and a roll cage? If you're going 140, you'll need it when you lose control and pile-drive your car into the interstate divider...

Take it to the track. Seriously.

On a side note, if you're really that desperate to get "cool" gauges and you aren't s/c or t/c, you could always invest in oil pressure gauges, oil temp. gauges, transmission temp. gauges, alternator charge gauges...the real, important kind that aren't installed on the Max. Not some tacky, oversized tach.

The only extra gauge I run is for A/F. Boosted guys would have a boost gauge, oil pressure, oil temp, etc.

IMO u only need extra gauges for boosted or high SPL cars. if we really needed it it would have been done at the factory

Its pretty hard for me to believe you were doing 140 in this car not to say it isnt possible but it would take a very long stretch and I believe there were some other people on here talking about top speed in the max and no one hit 140 iirc.

Maybe because I'm tuned but (of course on a closed road) I had no problem hitting 140 and it didn't seem to take that long, the car was still pulling pretty good. Is there supposed to be a speed limiter on the 5.5gens?

if its a 6spd it is more than possible everybody around my parts do it... auto its 135mph... i've done 143mph in my VQ30DE auto on a closed coarse before it took me probebly a 2-3 mile stretch after already doing 80mph... here dudes are doing 150 plus in there 6spds (on the same private track i did mines on of coarse)

6-speed SE with a few mods will go 150 plus. There was at least one package that came from the factory with no speed governer.

I would never go 140mph in my Maxima. My life is worth more to me then my car and speeding that fast.

yeah it was on a closed road. I wouldn't put other peoples life at risk. I should have mentioned that at the start of this thread. I just wanted to see my power gains with my mods since i never got the chance to. From the looks of it im loving it!!

I had no issues hitting 140. i was suprised myself when i reached that high. I think i could have driven a bit more than 140.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a boost gauge? (It's late, I apologize). And installed in irish's Subaru, if I'm not being misled by the gauges.

A: The name "mad cow disease" was already taken.
