Make Custom Headlights (AE)
Make Custom Headlights (AE)
I wanted to make these Custom Headlights (AE). I looked at the thread and i tryed to do it but it just didn't work for me. I am from East Hartford CT and if anyone is in the area that knows how to do these i will pay you. Thanks.
Same here... I honestly don't really think i like the look of them. I'm debating on whether i like the regular headlight (chrome) or the AE better (Gold)... I'm leaning towards the regular one's. I think the AE/gold make my car look...dirty. ...especially since nothing else on my AE is gold.

What didn't work for you? I honestly thinks its pretty simple if you have an oven and some time.

yea..did my wifes in under 2 hrs.
-remove headlight assy (including all bulbs)
-if HID, remove ballast and associated wiring (02-03 only)
-remove 3 small screws around back edges
-set on towel, on baking sheet in oven
-bake for 16-18 min at 250deg F
-remove and gently pry lens and housing apart (!headlight will be hot!)
-IIRC there may be one more small screw internally to release chrome surround
-pop it out and mask of what you dont want black (like the high/low reflectors and maybe the turn reflector (00-01)
-paint and let dry
-reassemble in reverse order
-bake as per above and voila
excellent write-up (credit: housecor)
Modify as necessary and GL
