Hawk Performance Brake Deal

Today I decided to change out my front brakes. I called around, I know shame on me, but I called Autozone, and Pepboys. At Pepboys they had Hawk Performance Ferro-Carbon front brake pads on special as they are no longer going to carry them, marked down from $94 to $28. I don't know if this deal will be available anywhere else. I live in the Salt Lake City, Utah market. They are now on my car. I drive a 2002 I35, but I imagine they would fit the Maxima's of the same year. I hope this was a good deal, and thought I would pass it along just in case.

Not sure how these compare to the Hawk HRE pads, but I LOVE my HRE pads...

I don't know about OEM, as I'm not sure what brand of brakes were on the I35, as I've only had it since July 31st. The brakes did a very nice job today, and I noticed they seem to be grabbing better than the old ones. I also broke them in per the instructions on the box. I'm hoping they last me a long time.

You're talking about the HP Plus pads. So expect faster than normal wear and more dust as they are designed for autocross applications. They retail for like $85, so it's a steal price. Should have bought a couple sets!

Update: Just picked myself up a pair. I was wrong, they carry the HPSs. Still a hell of a steal, since they retail for like $70.00

I called my local pep boys and asked for the hawk brake pads... and it turned out to be the Hawk HPS Street brake pads part # HB268F.665 which are only the front pads since they were $28 I got 2 sets since they didn't have any in stock, they will ship them from other store in the area I'll be picking them earlier this week... what a steal...

I suggest you guys call your local pep boys and order them if they're still in stock... good luck

A HUGE THANKS TO blbrizzi1 for the post

that's a great deal for HPS.....they are probably the best all-around street pad for the Maxima (IMO).

Yep, these are Hawk HPS #HB268F.665 - the same model number sold by TireRack for $70. I just picked up a front set at Pep Boys, based on this tip. Pep Boys doesn't carry the rear fitment Hawks... only front. However, as you pointed out, the front fitment was only $28.

Brent, you just saved me $50 American! Take a bow, my friend. That was awesome.

Why not just take your old pads off and replace them? Keep them handy incase you ever need them. Unless you just put them on...

these seem to be almost gone at most stores. From the reviews on HPS-- for those who have used it...have they been squeeky? I have used stock or ProStops/Quietstops...good stopping power but no noise...

I just got the last 2 for the 6th gen upgrade from the warehouse. $38/set, much better than the $85 I just paid when i did my 6th gen upgrade...

Best pads i've ever had, great bite, no noise, very low dust, good wear...what more is there?

There must be multiple warehouses. I called my local pepb and they said they didnt have any at the shop or the warehouse.

My setup is Autozone rotors and Hawk HPS pads all around. Much better than stock. And the rotors have a 3-year warranty on them. So I'll get them replaced for nothing come my next brake job.

You rock! I didn't even finish reading the thread - just threw on a hat and some shoes and ran up to Pep Boys!

The guy didn't mention the Hawks as an option, only OEM or ceramic. When I asked about the Hawk's he said they were discontinued - didn't mention anything about ordering them or anything.

I had to actually ask if they were available and then he said they could order them. They were $28, so I ordered several pair. He then said he had over 20 pair at the local warehouse and asked if I wanted more - guess he thought I wanted to put them on ebay or something. Hmmmmmm, maybe I should go back!

Same with the Pep Boys in NJ. They switched to Wagner and won't order any more of the Hawks from the warehouse.

I'd Paypal anyone who can get me a set for my 02 the cash plus some extra for the trouble. Zip Code 08053. I already have Hawks, love them , but know they wear faster with slotted rotors so I will eventually need a set.
