Trust me it runs like a brand new car now. Not even a 1% pinging sound i can even drive with the open hood and rolled down windows and will not hear any pinging at all. Well knock on wood i guess

i used techron fuel system cleaner not the fuel injector cleaner. 1 or 2 bottles didnt make any difference so i used 8 or 9 bottles to get rid of the pinging problem.

So, how much are you selling it for or where to get that snake oil in bulk? This thread is funny, I learned so much it's unbelieveable .

You probably are the first one to claim that Techron is the snake oil.

In the context of this thread it is: the OP had a problem and it 'magically' went away after using substatntial amount of additive as normal doze wasn't enough - it falls into snake oil category IMHO. Post #32 probably nailed the actual reason but hey - whatever spins your wheels.

Good luck.

You mean the techron fuel system cleaner? i bought them on sale it was buy 1 get 1 free at pepboys. The reg price is $8 per bottle i think. And it really worked like a magic. I dont think theres any harm to use large quantity of fuel cleaner.

Seafoam is a great product. It fixed a fuel injector issue in my 3rd gen.

half way through techron treated tank, and no diff... I doubt it would do anything since I use 93. Any other suggestions on muting the pinging?

1 bottle wont do a thing. put at least 8 to 10 bottles total, but do one on each fill up. I been using the premium gas and have had pinging since then but after using 8 bottles of techron fuel system cleaner the pinging disappeared completely. Just to mention that i also used the seafoam after the techron fuel system cleaner treatment. 8 bottles of treatment will completely eliminate the pinging "mark my words".

Once again, it might eliminate the (severe) audible pinging. I thought my engine was completely silent too until I drilled a hole in my firewall to install a clutch pedal. I use chevron 93 octane exclusively in my vehicle and it still knocks randomly after it has heat soaked. Some injector cleaner might fix this temporarily but due to head design it is more prone to do it than it should be and will almost inevitably return.

Glad it worked for you though.

Severe pinging, hmm how i DONT miss that, it was a ongoing issue for almost 6 months or so, went from changing intake gaskets, checking knock sensor, fuel pressure probs, reinstalled oem intake, nothing resolved it, I bought a new MAF, everything went away.
I do have a thread called "severe pinging" if you want some pointers.

Good post but doesn't take into account the mechanical differences between the vq30 and vq35.

I seafoamed my Max, and used chevron techron twice and pinging is practically gone. My fuel consumption improved as well going from 13-14 mpg to 17-18 in the city(avg. speed 15 mph) and the engine feels more powerful and responsive. When someone stole my parking spot, I let go of the brakes and floored it-it was one awesome peel out! Anyway, I will do another 2 treatments of chevron, and will seafoam my car again before next oil change and maybe switch to synthetic oil. I love my Maxima again!

PS, I remember 6-7 yrs ago anything you put in the gas tank besides gas was never good. Especially putting something in the crankcase was a murder.

Wonderful world of Internet forums. I don't have to be the first one-I see how it worked for others.

You are saying that 6-7yrs has changed what you can put in your gas and crankcase... saying that it was bad. I'm asking you what has changed from then and now. Forums haven't changed that fact.

What I'm saying is that I would never add anything unless I thouroughly research it, and forums like this one lets me do that. Sorry that it's not making sense to you.

dont use too much seafoam but you can use the chevron techron fuel cleaner on every oil change or on every 25k. i dont think that the oil change is really necessary after each techron treatment unless you having seafoam treatment aswell. I use techron cleaner on every 2k to avoid the future pinging cause i am sure the pinging will come back if i stop using the techron cleaner. The another way to avoid pinging is using 93 octane and we dont have that in CA.

That's what I meant, I'll Seafoam it again before the next oil change because I didn't do the intake(break booster). As far as chevron, I just want to completely get rid of pinging. Then I'll just use it at every few k. Thnx for the post, it proved very usefull.

Did you do the seafoam using the brake booster?

you don't have to buy expensive cevron techron. This is the formulation http://msds.walmartstores.com/cache/319320.pdf

75% is mineral spirits that you can buy in home depot for $7 / gallon. the additional additive like benzene is not really necessary for good running car.

this turned out to be a temporary solution. My more recent car was a 2012 G37, brand new... Guess what, during light load on throttle (light enough to hear the engine over that sweet exhaust roar) I heard.... Drumroll pls! Yep, pinging or spark knock or whatever you wanna call it. Thank god Sandy solved that problem, no more G37, no more spark knock. You want a permanent solution, buy a lexus or a BMW.

I get a light spark knock every now and then, ever since i changed my knock sensor, before it would hardly ever do it.
