FWD, manual trans and traction control
FWD, manual trans and traction control
Does anyone know why there are so few cars on the market with FWD, a manual transmission and traction control? After doing a little digging, it seems as though the only sports sedans with a manual transmission and traction control are BMW, Lexus IS, Saab, Volvo and VW. Obviously, the first two are RWD and the other three are FWD. It seems like everyone these days offers traction control, but only with their automatic trans cars.
I had a 6-speed manual and traction control in my Supra TT and got caught in the rain twice. I was amazed at how much traction that thing had when you add in some electronic wizardry. Even with ultra high performance tires on it, I was able to pin myself to my seat. I was shocked. The TRAC light was flashing continously. I could easily beat my Maxima in a race on wet roads.
Is it just additional development or do the manufacturers just think that those of us who like to row on our own don't need a little extra grip?
Thoughts?
