2K2 Torque Steer? Or alignment?
2K2 Torque Steer? Or alignment?
Fellas, a question for ya.
Got an 02 SE last saturday, and am pretty pleased so far....but...have been experiencing something a little disturbing.
The car drifts to the left just a tad during normal cruise, and whenever I "get on it" it really gets bad. I have just over 200 miles on the thing, I've checked the tire pressure, which is okay.
I don't go offroading, haven't really knocked the front end on any potholes, etc, but am inclined to think that it's the alignment.
I've had a few front drivers, and generally they have torqued to the right under accleration.
Thoughts anyone

Mine used to steer to the right while cruising and it did get annoying.
But lately it seems to have corrected itself already. However i'm still bringing it in for a look-see during my oil change. Got 3700 miles already.
I know, i'm picky. But it's also so annoying seeing my steering wheel slightly tilted to the left even on a straight line cruise (e.g. have to keep doing that to correct the rightward steer)

Steering Wheel off center
I have the exact same problem on my 01 SE, it is pulling to the left very slightly at high speeds and the wheel is off center a little. After going to the dealership 3 times and having them test drive it twice(once with me in the car) they have agreed that there is an alignment problem and will fix it for free this Friday.
Warning: Their 1st suggestion was that I need a wheel rotation as my car has 7700 miles on it. They wanted me to pay $22.50 for that. I protested and said the problem has been happening since day one.
Make sure you get your car into the dealer before your car hits 12000 miles.
Regards,
Jay

When I first got my 02 SE it too had alignment problem. I brought back to the dealer and they did an alignment on it. The alignment didn't fix the problem totally so I brought again and this time they told me that nothing was wrong with the alignment. They told me that one of my front tire had a flat spot which caused my car to swerve to the left. The reason they gave me for my tire having a flat spot was due to the car sitting on the trailer for too long while it's being shipped to it's destination. All they did was swap my front tires from left to right. Now my car pulls a little to the right, not as bad as before but it's still not perfect.
