Feels like braking on ice

So I was driving around today and upon applying the brakes, my ABS started engaging. I could feel the brake pedal kicking back at my feet. There was no ABS light or pattern to it. This happened sometimes at the end of stops, sometimes in the beginning, or whatever. Basically, it felt like sometimes I was stopping on ice, if you know what I mean. I have yet to inspect the brakes/ABS system.
What I think is happening is that my front rotors are glazed and the pads are losing grip. When this happens, I am willing to bet that the ABS system is sensing what appears to be a skid, thus engaging the ABS. What I plan to do to remedy the situation is swirl the rotors and pads to break the glaze. Hopefully this will do the trick. My current brake set-up on the front are 13" Brembos slotted, Hawk HPs, and Z33 aluminum calipers.

Has anyone else ever experienced this issue? If so, what did you do to resolve the problem?

AFAIK ABS would engage if your wheels stop spinning (locking) while what you describe sounds the opposite - 'losing grip'? Did the tires started to skid when it was happening? When I was breaking on the ice the car was not really slowing down while the wheels were locking due to very little friction between tires and the road. It should be hard to do this at this time of year. Something else must be wrong ...

Found the problem.
When I installed the KSports, I forgot to ziptie the abs wire on the driver's side. As a result, the wire came out of the metal bracket and rubbed through all the way to the copper, thus causing the abs to engage at times when applying the brakes.
I felt like a

I taped the wire. I hope it is ok.

Glad you found it. I was going to say check the ABS sensor/harness. I had a similar problem with ABS kicking in for no reason when stopping. Though the interesting thing is my abs light would come on after a couple times.

No. It wasn't loos. It just rubbed through the insulation. No light ever come on for me either.

i figured it out yesterday.. somehow the threads on my axle are stripped, therefore the axle nut loose.. so when i was braking the axle continued to spin.. so the car thought it was sliding and therefore would engage the ABS.. this whole thing has grooved my rotors and screwed my pads.. so i need a new pass. side axle.. get my rotors cut.. and new front pads..

Not only did the axle continue to spin, but it probably also slid outwards cuasing the exciter ring to not be lined with the abs sensor.

I don't think so.. The cotter pin would have stopped the axle nut from backing off past a certain point..

Exactly.. That was part of it also.. I took off the ABS sensor to clean it.. And it was covered in metal shavings stuck to it..
