Glove Box Rattle

I have a 2002 SE. It has a very annoying rattle coming from the glove box when stopped and idling (like at a red light). I know it's the glove box because if I push on one corner of the box the vibration goes away. I have tried installing some foam weatherstripping around the box hoping to make it close tighter against the dash and thus eliminate the vibration, but no dice.

Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a solution? Thanks!

Try these and do them yourself (says 00/01 but some 02/03's had this issue as well), I had that problem before and this worked for me.

Sorry to bump an old thread but since the pics are no longer available, I figured I'd upload a working copy I hunted down. That way the next person searching on it like I did today will have them.

FWIW, the second one worked for me

The Passenger side motor mount can cause that rattling noise if it is dry rotted. I had the rattling in my 2000 se and changed the motor mount(dry rotted) and it went away. just a thought

Make sure the little light didn't unclip itself. I changed my cabin filter and put the glove box back together and right after noticed i had a rattling similar to what you described and it was the stupid glove box light. It was't clipped into the cut out so it was just hanging their by the wire. Good luck!

Disconnect the battery before messing with the glovebox wiring.

Airbag.

I also had rattling coming from glove box. I didn't notice it until I replaced my struts. My old struts were so worn out I couldn't feel it. It turned out to be the passenger side motor mount causing the noise from the glove box.

I just put a little bit of Silicon in the area that was rattling and that fixed it right up.

Sorry to go a little OT, but does anyone know the number of the glove box light? I can't find it and mine has failed.
