Eh, words are just words. It's no big deal. But thanks.

Tonight I swapped out my bulbs (again). From the original OEM bulbs, I tried these 100w $15 Litechs. They were very bright, and much whiter than OEM, but hot as a tin roof.

Now I'm running these (don't laugh) "5800K XD5 Xenon Krypton Quartz Bulbs", which are configured at the specified 55w. I got them for $4 on ebay. Seriously, four dollars. Heck, the shipping costs more than the bulbs.

They're just as bright as the Litechs, and noticeably more white. I had one of each lit at the same time, and the new bulbs were just better. You know, the $4 bulbs.

Maybe I'll be getting what I paid for if they burn out in the next few weeks, but at this point... man, it looks good.

Yeah, I really don't have high expectations. They're cheap. Time will tell.

So are you liking your 100w Silvanias?

well with the yellow tint, theres no noticable difference in color, but they certainly are brighter, and they do give out better output. so far i like em.

aaaaaand they gotta go. noticed some browning today on my fog tint film, and upon touching it to see how hot it actually was, i noticed the plastic lense itself was beginning to warp. luckily the fogs are still wired to the switch and i turned them off for now. glad i didnt pay for the bulbs putting the 55W's back in asap.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that. Good thing you were keeping an eye on them.

However, +1 for you personally, for following through and sharing your experience with hot, 100w bulbs. I'm glad I yanked mine.

Do they run warm/hot compared to stock ??? How is the light output on those compared to stock?

Let us know how long they last... I might pick up a pair down the road. Seems TOO CHEAP in my opinion and you sometimes get what you pay for...

Take some pics of those $4 fogs

Heat... honestly, I don't know. I wasn't in the habit of touching my fog lenses for temperature. Well, until lately that is. And sure, they get hot, but not so much as the 100w bulbs did, that's for sure.

I will definitely find this thread again should someday they fail, whether that be next week or next year.

You know, I tried to take pictures, but couldn't get the exposure right. I think that's a familiar theme here when it comes to images of light bulbs. Sorry. My sig picture has the 100w Litechs in them, and the new bulbs look noticeably better. When I had one on each side, I had my wife compare them without telling her which was which. She immediately preferred the $4 bulb. All I can say is they look great...

...which is dumbfounding considering the nearly give-a-way cost. But there's no logic in something being too inexpensive to buy. If it's inexpensive, then there's zero risk, right?

I say go for it.
