55w HID Harness

Upgrading from 35w HIDs to 55w. MY question is do 5th Gens need the harness for a 55w HID kit so that it works correctly?

not necessary for it to work correctly, but it is safer to use a harness. It is also a cheaper fix if you happen to burn out the wiring on the harness compared to burning out the cars wiring.

You definitely do not need a new harness to move to the 55w HIDs. I ran 55w for a while without changing the harness with no issues...needless to say I was impressed at the light output vs. the 35w HIDs I had before.

so on a 1-10 scale what are the chances of the wires burning up. And i think what i'm going to do is run the lights without the harness for a while, then pick one up later on...especially since i just bought a berk short ram a few days ago

props to M1RAG3

I would suggest using a harness for any HID kit. Not worth the risk of damaging the stock wiring IMO.

I recently installed a HID kit and added the relay harness after reading up on the issue.
