350z clutch questions. Possible to use the 370z clutch??

I didn't see if anyone did it before, but does anyone know if we could use the 370z clutch? I would imagine it would have even more clamping force than the 350z.

If not, I just want to make sure I have all my info straight... the regular 350z clutch fits, the SA 350z clutch fits (don't know what SA stands for, just read it on here...) but it seems that some people had some problems with the HR 350z clutch. I would just be looking for a clutch that is better than the Maxima's but isn't very heavy like a stage 2 and up would be. I also don't want to get something that needs to be modified to work. I heard that some people had to do some things to make the 350z clutch fit.

Can someone help me with this info? I read through quite a few threads but I wanted to see opinions now that some people have had this done for a few years.

exedy stage 1, uses the same disk as the stage 1 350z setup, with a little more clamping force than stock.

I was one of the first to use the 350Z clutch and it still works fine for me. It's been a few years now. It has more clamping force than stock with a light pedal feel. I'm using it with the Fidanza flywheel but others have used the stock flywheel with no problems.

If you order it from Dave B he'll know exactly what you need and have it in stock. It runs a little over $300 plus you'll need a throwout bearing for around $30.

I think the 370 clutch is different but I'm not 100% sure.

Which 350z clutch did you use? the HR one or what? Any modifying that needs to be done?

No modification at all. It's just the 350Z clutch now. When they updated it the new one became the replacement for the previous years. Like I said, order it from Dave B. He knows all about it.

I just want a clutch that will hold up for a while and take some hard driving and also be able to handle a 75 wet shot of nitrous. That's my plans within the next year. Will the 350z clutch hold that power or would an exedy or CM clutch be better? Would stage 1 hold that power or no?

exedy stage 1 holds 350 lb/ft torque IIRC

Aren't some people on nitrous pushing more tq than that?

The 370Z clutch is the same part # as the HR 350Z. It has only 20# more clamping force than the early 350Z setup, they both have over 2000#, so there's really no need to bother with it. I did have a customer tell me he had tried the HR setup, and it did not work. Plus, it's almost $500!

I found out something today. I always assumed that the exedy stage 1 clutch was the same as the stock clutch with a better pressure plate. After doing a transmission swap today I found out a few things. The exedy disk is about .100 wider than the stock disk. It also has much beefier springs (thicker and longer) than the OEM 350z disk. I tried to take a few pics but my camera phone sucks...

OEM 350z (cd019)

exedy stage1

the meat of the disk (contact area) is about .100 wider so overall the disk is about .200 bigger in diameter so you will get more grip with an exedy because of that.
