P0430, I guess you have a cali spec. One of the worst code to pinpoint from what I've read. Some say replace front precat. Done. I haven't gone that route yet and been living with that code ever since I got my car, a little over a year now. I've only replaced the downstream oxigen sensor for that bank, erased the code, only to find out that the code came back.

yes i have cali spec... i just intalled an intake recently and changed my MAF then i get th is code!!! as far as o2's go howmuch are two new ones...i already know a warpspeed y pipe is about 200 plus shipping but would replacing my y pipe without a new "precat" make the code be cleared or will i need an o2 simulator?

My car is also a cali spec but I haven't explored those options in depth and I wish I had an answer to that. Hopefully someone will chime in. I do know that a new aftermarket front precat by Eastern Catalytic is under $200, shipped, and there is no need for getting O2 simulators and I don't know what else.

With a P1420/1430 code, before assuming it's a precat issue (or O2 sensor for that matter) there is a basic troubleshooting process that should be done first to eliminate any basic engine operating problems. The P1420/1430 codes can be the result of intake ducting air leaks downstream of the MAF, exhaust leaks, and injector/s (fuel delivery), ignition (spark) etc. Basically anything that can cause a miss, or less than ideal combustion. MAXIMA_STYLE.......you just made a change to the intake/MAF.......that could be your problem right there. At least start there.
