good quiet muffler combine with budget y-pipe and megan racing b-pipe...

I swap my oem y-pipe and injen intake when i first got the car couple years back.

and last year I got the megan racing catback... It was so loud that i can not stand it after three month... so I swap the oem axel-back back to the car...

It sounded okey but not as good as expected...

over the weekend, the oem axle back pipe was rusted and left a hole there... so anyway now i need a new muffler... I have 2 options...

Either swap back the megan racing axle back.

or someone could recommend a muffler with a good sound (G35 tone preferred) so i can buy it and put it on....

Another question is that if i buy a universal muffler, can i use the megan axle back piping or i have to ask someone to custom make it?

I have had some experience with the OBX dual tip muffler off of ebay..
Its definitely quieter than a fart can but I only heard it on a honda accord.
Price is good, around $60

what do you have up front? y-pipe? intake?

i ask this is because stock system with megan racing catback is quiet and sounded good, since i have a y-pipe, and removed the pre-cat that is why that system is too lound because y-pipe allow more air go through=.=

Anything other than OEM will be loud, just buy another OEM axleback.

my b-pipe is 2.5 inch, so i might as well find a quiet 2.5 inch muffler to math it... since when it match with the oem, it sounds quiet but the tone is not good... (sounds like farting)

I replaced my Cattman muffler with a Walker "Quiet Flo" and like the sound. It slightly louder than stock, with the rest of exhaust consisting of Cattman products it has deep tone and NO drone.

I would recommend a Borla muffler but do not know if they make a universal muffler to match the OEM dimensions.

I have no $ on a spare muffler, mean while I might look @ the FS section see if anyone come up with anything. Thanx guys~

im actually in the same dilemma as lalamax. i have a 2001 5th gen maxima
and i have stock exhaust. nothing of my exhaust has changed and i didnt add an intake or headers. i just want a muffler that can give my max a low rumble that isnt obnoxious and too loud. dont want to be rice or anything. but yeah do you guys have any suggestions on mufflers that give a good low rumble for my 2001 max. i know that megan / borma / magnaflow / and hks are used in most maximas but i dont know which specific one to get so if you guys know please post me the url or email me tips or the url at xznshortex@yahoo.com Thanks!

Heard the Quiet Flow on a few cars, really nice sound and not very loud.

I would kill to have my 5.5 sound like a G35, that tone is unmistakable and I can hear one coming from a mile away... Does anyone have experience in trying to achieve this sound on a max?

Best replacement after the oem muffler will be the later G35 sedan mufflers (05-06) with a little modification.
