Paint
Paint
I got a 2001 Black Se. I got the car back in August and I have only 5,000 miles on it. The paint on the hood and front bumper has some chipsin it. I dont drive a lot of highway miles and I had a black truck for four years with less paint chips. Has anyone had the same problem and if so did your dealer do anything about it. I went and they said they couldnt do anything so i talked to the nissan rep and they still have to get back to me.
very common problem. there are many threads on this. Use the search feature to search for threads with "paint" in the subject just in this forum and you'll find what you're looking for
Yep, thats the price we pay for black paint... However, the other colors chip easily too, its just more noticeable. The best ways around it are to get the 3M clear nose mask or to get a regular mask (like from carbras.com).

288 people have replied to the original thread started on 3/1/2001 and 11081 people have viewed it OVER NINE MONTHS, however we still only have 65 complaints. In addition to the original thread, at least 100 other threads have been started on this topic with hundreds and thousands of readers and posters and we still have 65 people who registered a complaint. Honestly I expected a great deal more considering how many people have commented on .org about this. Scott and I, when we put all the content together, had agreed on a minimum of 100 people to send off the complaint. I can send it in as is, this is not a problem for me, however I think 65 people is not a good sampling of complaints. I can easily find 65 owners of almost any car on the market who have paint chips in their hood and fenders. No automobile manufacturer will recognize that as a paint defect.
With today's results, if I were Nissan, I would be hard pressed to recognize a broad paint quality issue because 65 people have little chips on their hood.
