Tranny slipping. Need some help please/advice!!
My 00 auto (100k) tranny started slipping not too long ago. It would start slipping after a 45min to 1hr drive. First I would be driving in 1st and not shift at all, then when I punch the gas hard, it would jerk and catch to 2nd. And if I drive it a little longer, I would completely lose all gears as if I were just revving in neutral when it's clearly in drive. I had to park aside and wait a little bit before I could crawl back home. The mechanic told me tranny was bad so they swapped a rebuilt. After a little bit, same thing happened again, so I brought it back. They replaced the speed sensor and some solenoid thing. My tranny is still slipping. Is it the torque converter not locking or what could possibly be going on? It's giving me a big headache. I hate dropping my car off to the mechanic because they have to "roadtest"/joy ride the crap out of my car!!! Blew my shocks, curbed my wheel, dirtied my carpet!!! @!@^*&$^
I would never go back to them again but since they did the tranny and have warranty on it, I have no choice but to go back.

When my auto first started slipping, I tried that Lucas No-slip stuff at my local autozone. It works really well. No more slipping. Then, I actually sourced the problem (leaking tranny pan gasket) and fixed it completely. No slips anymore. Maybe try that no-slip stuff?

And to cjones, I did complain to them and they will pay for the repair for the curbed wheel. But as far as blown shocks, I dont think there's a way for me to prove that they were blown under their management.
If you have the option take the car to another transmission place but tell them nothing. Only ask for a diagnosis and estimate in writing. Then you take that to the first place and say: Fix this or we see each other in small claims court.
I dropped $2,700 for my transmission problem and I still have issues with it. Shop tells me "it's normal" which I think is crap.

im going out on a limb.. but.. when i had my 00 max.. i had tranny issues too..or so i thought..and it ended up being the maf... i wasnt getting the 3k dead maf feel.. it was actually making my tranny feel like it was slipping....just letting you know my past experience lol.. but i dont have alot of tranny luck either.. my 02 is currently in the shop getting a new tranny cuz i lost 6th gear lol.. thank god for a warrenty... oh and that lucas stuff is the ****.. lol
Have you seen this TSB? Does your Maxima fall within it?

So Revolution Sensor and Solenoids have been replaced??
Do some reading on the Transmission Control Module (TCM). If you think that is the issue, I have one for sale and am located in Socal.
Either way, keep me updated. I'm curious to know what eventually fixes your car as I have some similar issues (no lockup when cold).

Recent experience tells me that the MAF sensor might also affect the transmission and make it appear to be slipping. After replacing the MAF sensor all symptoms of slipping seem to have gone away. Could it be that the ECM was getting confused in sending signals to the transmission as a result of the MAF sensor failure?
MAFsensor issues aside, I would make sure that the tranny filter is clean before taking it to the shop.

I'm not sure if I could still take my car in for the TSB because it's a rebuilt tranny with non-OEM parts. My MAF is quite new with maybe 20k miles so I dont think it's the MAF that is causing the problem. I'll probably look into the TCM though.
No, you're waay past the warranty, nissan won't honor that tsb. Anyways, check out the FSM's link in my signature and go through AT.pdf. There should be some help in there. I'm not sure if our tranny's use the TPS for shifting. Might be something to check if they do.
slipping tranny
there are 2 things you can do, well 3 but the last one is expensive. one of the problems with these tranny's is the wiring (or grounds) with a 2000 it might need some help. if you are up to it take off the air filter canister and you will see a grounding point right below it remove this bolt and clean the area with a wire brush. next go to Napa or where ever and buy a Battery cable (10ga should do it) for about $8 and attach it at the point of the ground. make sure everything is clean. next run the other end to the upper (smaller) mounting bolt for the Starter. remove it (15 or 17mm socket) and attach the ground to this. try it and see if it cures the problem. if this doesnt work then it is probably the solenoide pack in the tranny. there is a TSB on this and they cost about $250. if you have a lift and some patience, it is not to hard to replace, if not, you will have to find a mechanic / Tranny guy who will do an honest job to change it.
also, try disconecting the battery for about 5 minutes to see if this resets the TCM, sometimes this works as well. the last way unfortunetly is to get a properly rebuilt tranny. you can get one from rock auto for about $1500 bucks with i think a 2 year waranty. any way good luck with this. (ps mine worked with the ground wire for about a year then i had to bite the bullit and get a new one. Ted

I had a similar problem. I replaced the revolution speed sensor and the slipping went away for good.

I'll look into grounding the tranny or possibly changing the TCM for I've already gotten the tranny rebuilt, speed sensor and solenoid thing changed. I would do a 5sp swap if this isnt my DD and the horrible LA traffic isnt helping.
