Question

Hello people! Ever since i bought my maxima in June 09. I notice that the oil light stay on longer then the other light on my dash or it also flashes then it turns off. (only for a couple second). I check my oil every week, i don't smell any oil burning but i was just wondering. If this is a serious problem and have someone check it out or what? Also when i start it up in the morning i also hear a valve knocking for like 2 second. But the car runs fine, motor is quiet. It has 107k and it 03 maxima. Thanks

Oil drains to the bottom on cold starts, so it takes a couple seconds for oil to be circulated into the motor

Valve ticking noise is normal all VQs sound that way

I have had no more "cold" start valve train noise when using Mobil 1 filters. I haven't tried Wix, thats next, but I have used Fram (all three flavors), K&N, Purlator... and all these always gave me noisey lifters.

You got lucky with no ridicule yet from members but just so you know when you start a new thread...just try and make sure that the title pertains to the question asked in the thread....so when other members have the same problem and they go to search for a thread on this topic they may not find it cause the title ISNT "I have a oil light that flashes" it is "question"

Just giving you a tip for the future hope you solve your problem.

I don't disagree, however I'm equal opportunity tester. As none of them were living up to my expectations, the only one that rid my of my noise was Mobil. I read a good article that was on another forum concerning a the oil filters that someone tested, and cut open. You would be quite surprized at the results...

Let me see if I can find that

dude. y are you replying the same thing every 5 minutes?

but on a serious note. my car does that sometimes too. it does it for less then a second though it flashes really fast then turns off. and and sometimes it just turns on and off instantly. but it never stays on longer then a second.

anyone see this thread...and want to add scientific knowledge...if exists? No particular thoughts....just thought I'd list. Not sure what a visible inspection of the inside of a non used filter is worth without knowing what the material characteristics are?
