Strange symptoms (long)

I have had my 2002 I35 for just over 2 months now. I have put on about 5500 plus miles in that short time. A trip to Colorado from Utah and back, and lots of regular stop and go. Here's the strange part, about a month ago I started the car one day, and within a few minutes I had a SES light come on this was about a week after the most recent oil change. I had autozone pull the code for me, P0011, Crankshaft Position Sensor--Bank One, did a lot of searching here on the Org, and also discovered the oil was about a half quart low, after a little knocking happened for a few seconds upon startup, topped it off, and over the next week and about 300 miles used another half quart of oil. I also cleared the code, it has not come back as of yet. I checked the oil every morning to keep a close eye on it. I have used a little over one quart total since my oil change. As of this morning oil is full after having driven a little over 2500 miles since the last change. Here's the strange to me part. The car hasn't used any oil that I have been able to notice for the last 1400 miles. The consumption over the first couple of weeks has disappeared. I always check my oil cold, first thing in the morning, car is parked in the same level position. I learned that lesson from my 99 I35. The oil level on these cars is too difficult to detect unless it's checked cold. I have been religious about checking my oil, and was surprised to find it had used any oil, but am more surprised to find it has stopped using oil. I hate to mention it, but the only other thing I did other than checking the oil is to use some seafoam, in the gas tank only, and as I can't possibly think that has stopped the oil consumption, I just mention it as necessary to give complete information as to what I've done. Any thoughts/suggestions, or like experiences.

Bump: Really, no one experience this, or have any thoughts?

Well, there was a recall on the Crank Position Sensor... I'm not sure if you can check if it was done or not.

Oil consumption is nothing new with the 3.5L VQ. Just keep an eye on it. It might not really have stopped. If it has consider yourself lucky.

Yes, I did check on the recall. Supposedly my I35 isn't one of the affected ones. I have continued to check the oil, it really does appear to have stopped, that's why I'm wondering what happened to make it so...it doesn't make any sense to me.
