goodridge SS brake lines

Hi Guys, I have a problem and need some advice. I tried installing a set of goodgridge SS brake lines today. I got them on no problem, but as I was installing the second line on the back I noticed the first one was leaking like a sieve, and I hadn't even put pressure on the brakes yet. This is at the JIC end not the banjo fitting end.

So I went back and tried to tighten the nut some more. It was still leaking a bit so I tightened it even more. By now it is way past the torque specs. But I tightened it a bit more and actually stripped the nut even using the proper wrench. So I took it apart and measured the depth of where the flare nut enters. The goodridge depth is about .385" deep. The lines on there now are only about .300 inches deep. So it looks like there is no way my old flare nuts will be able to seat the flare inside the JIC fitting.

so, is it possible to trim the end of the brake line, put a new nut in there and reflare them? Or do I need new lines?

If the first one does not leak, then the 2nd fitting might have been defective. I would either get another line or fitting and try to bleed accordingly.

problem is i bought 4 lines and they are all deeper than whats on the car. Seems like I have to chase the threads on the flare nuts for these to work. There is only one on the car right now, i took the other one off and didn't even attempt the front two lines.

does the hard pipe run all the way from the abs actuator or is there something like a manifold in the middle of the car somewhere?

IDK if it splits in between or not, but you shouldn't have to cut and flare new ends on the lines.
I bet the lines are wrong.

I dont know if you have BBK or not.
When I bought SS lines for my ft Z33 calipers, they leaked. It turned out I was sold O.E.M. Maxima lines in lieu of 300 ZX lines. You gotta watch out for these stupid vendors!!

I know goodridge is an excellent product so I have reservations about saying they messed up. I think it just may be that my inverted flare nuts need to be replaced to make them work with the setup. If only one female end was too deep I would accept the fact that it was defective but all 4 are too deep and the exact same depth of .385" measured with my vernier caliper. Problem is to replace the inverted flare nut you have to cut the pipe and re-flare them.

I have OEM brakes and got the OEM replacement lines. Everything else exactly the same, they just made the female port of the line too deep so the inverted flare nut is almost out of thread before it can seat the male flare in the female port.

Is there another brand of SS lines you could use?

i have the technafit's on there already but they don't fit up properly either, you can't use the clips to lock them in place at the midway point, which defeats the purpose of owning them. the line still can flex all over the place. The goodridge fit perfectly at the clip point, came with all new hardware and crush washers, they just made the female port too deep to work with a rusted maxima

if I can figure out the thread size of the inverted flare nut I may have to chase the threads before installing them. The hex size is 10mm but I can't find anything about the thread size
