Rear Defroster not working??

Hi Guys,

Yesterday my rear defroster stopped working on my 2000 SE. When I press the button, nada. No orange light. It worked fine the day before. I checked the fuses, well I tried to. I can’t find a corresponding fuse for the rear defroster? Anyone know which one it is? Why do I have the sinking suspicion this is gonna cost me a few hundred $$??

Just check every fuse, then. Test continuity with a volt meter to make sure they're good. There's not that many, imo. Gotta rule out fuses before you can do anything.

Ok, I will do that. But is Rear Defrost part of another fuse for another system? There are many ambiguous (well, to me anyway) references to fuses in the engine compartment.

BTW, I did not mention the cabin dome light bulb above the driver blew out and I tried to replace it on Sunday and afterward the rear defroster would not come on. Perhaps just a coincidence and completely unrelated?

Idk if it's all in the same system as you stated, but if your cabin light went out than your rear defrost stropped working, I assume you shorted something, somewhere. Check all fuses as stated above. Than come back.

I figured it out. Looked on the fuse box beneath the steering column. The 10V 'RR Frost' amp had blown out. Now I have no idea how this fuse blowing would also leave me unable to auto lock my doors or turn the alarm on...?? But that did it.

I haven't been able to turn my rear defrost on for a couple of weeks. Today the rear defrost light flashed on and off and I could here a clicking sound each time. Nothing happens when I push the button. I checked my fuses and they are all closed. Anyone have any other ideas about what could be wrong?

I just looked at the fuse box underneath the dash and the RR fog fuses read 20 amp and not 10 amp please confirm.

When I go to turn on my rear defogger the orange light comes on and there is a clicking noise when I do this but Icon doesn't come on like front defogger does. All fuses have been checked and they are all good. What else can it be?
