Tire size conversion

Yes. I know we have a tire/wheel section, but it's busier in this side of the world.
I would like find out if this size tire would fit in the front of our cars - 250/640/18. I am willing to guess it would be too wide.

I've called the Tire Rack, Discount Tire, etc but to no avail.
Most conversion calculators aren't helping either. Any help would be much appreciated.

is this a joke? tire sizes read like so 245/45/17

245 width of tire
45 height of tire
17 rim size

where did you find a 250/640/18

i wouldn't buy anything without a picture. if it turns out to be 250/40/18 then you should be fine.

Yeah. I would want to see pics for sure. Hopefully they will fit. $300 for 4 slicks sounds damn good right now!

It's equivalent to a 250/37-18.

Don't they teach math in schools anymore?

(total_tire_diameter - wheel_diameter) / 2 = side_wall_height

round(side_wall_height / tire_width * 100) = side_wall_height_as_percentage

---> tire_width_mm / side_wall_height_as_percentage / wheel_diameter_inches <---

With:
- total_tire_diameter = 640mm
- wheel_diameter = 18" (457.2mm)
- tire_width = 250mm

side_wall_height_as_percentage yields 37, as indicated.
