Need Help Quick - MAF sensor?

Looking at a 2000 Maxima 5 speed with 140k on it - Car seems to be in good condition - no grinds in gears, clutch engages perfectly... maintained well, e.t.c.

Car has only been driven 5,000 miles this year.

Upon test driving, car has good power untill 4,000 ish? RPM, hesitates for a second (power drops off like I let my foot off the gas) and then picks up a little bit. I owned a 5 speed Maxima before and the power was much better than this (if I remember correctly)

Does this sound like a case of the MAF sensor? What else should I be looking for?

Thanks in advance

Thanks to those who replied... Purchased the car and it was indeed the Mass Air Flow Sensor - Bought a new one at Exton (MVP) Nissan for $110 and I'm a happy camper!
