anyone running water wetter?

Its time to flush my coolant. I'm considering running straight distilled water with a bottle or two of Redline Water Wetter (since i live in california)

Has anyone tried this?

Cooler temps=More power. As long as it is safe for our cooling systems, wont corrode or damage seals then I don't see why not to run it.

supposedly heat transfer properties of distilled water + water wetter are better than that of your traditional 50/50 coolant mix. The water wetter prevents corrosion, and since i live in California there is no risk of freezing.

not true. it wont be cooler unless you replace the thermalstat, coolant itself doesnt change the temp.
and if cooler engine means more power, why fit a car with thermalstat, wouldnt it be great just use open loop straight away.

unless youre running waterwetter in a motorcycle engine, dont see the benifit of using that in a car since it never overheats if the system is working properly.

Change the thermostat. The engine temperature isn't regulated by the coolant makeup, it's regulated by the thermostat.

This is pretty basic stuff...are you sure you want to start re-engineering a perfectly good cooling system?

+1 on the thermostat.

No matter what happened to the coolant, the thermostat will still open and close to keep the engine at the correct temperature

Can I be a noob and ask which thermostat to get that allows for the lowest temp (or a possible modification?
Love the VQ, but hate its performance when heat soaked (obviously this would only help a little, but better than nothing).

1 bottle is good for I believe 14 gallons...I've been running it for about 4 yrs in my Maxima cause I flush my coolant annually since these engines are all aluminum! Our water temp gauge is an approximate type, I haven't ever seen my temps even at halfway on the temp gauge, not even in our blazin Texas summers!
