Lowering Springs- Anyone using different springs on front and rear?
I currently have H&R's on my 01 with OEM shocks. Like most others I like the ride but would like a little lower stance in the front. I'll be getting a set of Illuminas soon this fall but I noticed the group deal offer for October for Tein. They're offering the S-tech's for $222 and H-tech springs for $229. From what I've noticed, this price seems pretty good especially with free shipping. My question is to those who have different springs on the front than on the rear. The H&R's sit perfect in the rear and the front isn't near as bad as it was stock, but I would really like to see the front fender wheel well loose a little more gap.
I'm not looking for the lowest of low maximas(gotta get in and out of a driveway) and I know the S-tech's will be a lower drop than H-tech's, so it would be great to get some feedback from members who have a setup with different springs and what kind of ride and overall drop they achieved. S-tech are supposedly bouncy but would the H&R rear springs help? H-tech's low enough? I know they're will be the members chiming in to buy complete coilovers but I honestly probably wouldn't adjust them more than once after I found the right ride height. Not going to the track, not road racing and not going to the races. I know coilovers are great and all but don't think it's what I'm looking for. So anybody got an interesting setup that worked good for them?

Absolutely right Drunkie, did a little editing. Hadn't thought about the progress springs at all actually but they look like they maybe worth a look. A little higher than the S-techs but lower than the H-techs by a bit.

Thanks Majestic. This is what I was looking for, someone that's running a separate setup in the front and rear. Are you running your OEM struts or have you upgraded yet. Did the progress rear springs help with the S-tech's bouncy ride syndrome?

exactly what I want. I currently have progress all the way around with tokico blues but still think the front is too high. I'm currently looking for s tech fronts. does anyone have any s tech fronts they want to sell.

i have upgraded them to kyb struts, i dont have a bouncy ride, i didnt really notice a difference in ride between progress and the tien in front. if there was a difference its negligent and it looks better. HIghly recommend 2 new strut bearing mounts when you do it though, you dont want to do that twice, lol

I need two different sets as well. NONE besides the S techs have a correct drop. All the others lean backwards. Who are these engineers and who gave them a job? Seriously.
Anyway, I need dropped 2" in front and 1" in back, but of course, you can't buy the pairs separate - another genius move.
And of course there's nothing that I can use for the fronts anyway. I guess I'm stuck with the damn 4x4. I might as well go off roading.![Mad](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

This is exactly what I'm wondering. I want to lose the 4x4 look soo bad, but I'm really short on cash to go to a full coilover setup like I want. Will using oem struts with lowering springs ruin your struts or, is it ok for a little while as long as there eventually changed?

Those pics from Housecor are helpful but definitely showed me that I do want to keep my H&R's on the rear because the car just sits way too high otherwise. It looks like with the H&R rear springs the only two setups that would give me an even stance would be with either the Progress springs, which would make the height an even 26" all around or with S-tech's on the front and H&R's on the rear the ride would supposedly be 25 1/2" in the front and 26" the rear.
I would think that since the front of the wheel well on the maxima's are cut higher than the rear that the S-tech springs would make it look more level. So anybody else other than Majestic running a setup with H&R rear springs and a different front with pics or feedback?

Ya I know about coilovers being great and all and everyone is always saying get Tein SS coilovers or don't get anything at all blah blah blah. But the reason I'm leaning towards springs and Illuminas is because I just simply think I would use the coilovers to their full benefit and purposes. They're great if you plan on going to the track, races, time trials, car shows, ect but I'm driving my 01 daily and have no plans on going to the tracks or races.
I had a set of Tanabe coilovers on my 95 civic hatchback I used to race and show and they were great, but I would be adjusting dampening and height alot depending on where I was. Coilovers are great if you plan on adjusting your ride a bunch, I don't plan to. I figured possibly running the Stech front springs (possibly progress) and H&R rear springs mated to some Illuminas would give me good height and a little control too. Anybody else got a good stance with no sagging with a spring and shock combo?

....and will hate the ride.
Far too stiff compression valving.
Why do you feel you need adjustables?
Honestly, when I do it again, it'll be on Progress/GR-2's, or Tein SS.
Apparently, for Rochester.

Mine are S-Tech all around on KYB GR2s so they are not adjustable you would want the AGX which are adjustable
