help, two weird problems.
help, two weird problems.
Problem 1:
I noticed lately, when i turn my key to ignition on and when engine is running, and open my driver door, my door light doesn't light up and the red "door open warning light" on the dash is very dim, but the roof light does light up properly.
if I don't put the key in and open the door, the door light and dome light does light up, but no "door open warning light"...
All other doors are working properly, ie. open door, front door light, "door open warning light", and dome light does light up properly.
I did swap the door sensor on B-Piller with the passenger door one, still the same problem, so I assume the sensors are fine. I did check the fuse under the steering wheel, the "room light" fuse is good. Does anyone know what it might be? I am thinking maybe a relay under the hood. Does anyone had this problem before? please let me know the solution.
Problem 2:
I just changed my rear break and rotor with the ATE. everything is fine but I feel that the hand brake is kinda loose. ie. Normally, I remember when I shift into D and release brake padel, 3-4 click could prevent the car from rolling, but now it needs 6-8 clicks. I am just wondering if there are anyway to tighten the cable?
Thank you all for the help first

yes there is a way to tighten it,.. ive seen it on here before,.. but i have the same problem... my 3-4 clicks now, the handle just flops around, and doesnt get tight till 6-8+,.. i know someone can help with the tightening location
see but mine loosens up on it self over time,.. like basically.. you can tap it ever so slightly from under it and it will bounce up and down,.. basically,.. at 1-2 clicks.. there is still slop/slack in the line with no tension on the line at all untill higher clicks.. i know it hasnt always been like that,.. but thats why i always put it in second gear as well
and a comment on what was said about it being stuck,..on my old 00 max, if the e brake was up,-- upon disengauging it ,.. the back brakes would not losen up completly, yet the handle would make it appear as if it were disenguaged,..found out the hard way.. after driving about 5 miles to my destination on the highway.. i got out and said mmm smells like brakes,.. sure enough the wheel was hot to the touch lol and i had to crawl under there and push the e brake off by hand,..only happened once cuz i never had to use it (auto)
cant remember exactly because this was prob 4+ years ago but this might of might not have had something to do with ripping doughnuts in empty lots in the snow

The manual is a bit vague as to where the adjustment is located but it appears to be at the center console. I uploaded a 2 page pdf to http://home.comcast.net/~ahearn4john/br.pdf if you want to see it. I would check the rear brake actuation as well.
My left back door is locked and I can not open the door from inside and outside ...
Can not open from inside because the child lock is on ... but from outside I think because the door handle ..
Now If I got this handle, can I replace it while the door is locked? Is this is possible .. can you send instruction ( how to install it ) with the handle?

first..dont bump your thread count by clogging up someones thread in order to get your count up to start a post,..you will get banned from here..
second.. that really sucks,.. if the child lock is on and the handle broke from the outside,.. at least its not the drivers door..,.. i would suggest a few things.. maybe try and take the door panel off from the inside to gain access to move the lever manually, either the unlock lever or the security lever...if that doesnt work..maybe you can fish for the lock with a jimmie but im not sure if it would work with the security lock on,.. other then that it might be the dealers nightmare lol...

for my first problem, I had read many threads, it looks like either the BCM, body control module, or the relay... does anyone had experience with it? please let me know what the symptom is and where could you find the part? thank you
