OBX Headers installed BUT... help

So I installed the OBX headers and now I have a problem.

My car does not idle well and will not go over 2800 rpm.

Could it be?
When extending the o2 sensor wires, I switched the 2 white ones by accident?

I installed the UIM but havent put the bracket on the back yet (4 bolts), causing a leak?

MAF? Car ran perfect before install..

I have 3 EGR block off plates, 1 might be leaking? Thanks

Call me skeptical, but same exact problem with mu_036sp who just sold his car. However he had this problem 3 weeks ago. Maf. Swap out with a buddys max or any spare 02 max that's willing. I put all my money on maf

Alright, so what I have found so far is, the problem was the primary o2 sensor (at least it runs great now). I had the 2 white wires switched. Anybody know if that is the actual problem? I haven't gotten to take it out for more than a 5min test drive because I have a suspended license.

is it really a MAF problem cuz i have the EXACT same situation. Lately in the cold weather the car is running like a beast and doesn't get stuck at 2500rpms that often

Okay so the problem is back AGAIN. Will not go above 2900rmp, it just sounds like a redline. It obviously isnt the o2 sensors. Is it REALLY the MAF?

Thanks

Here is pic of my '00 Maxima MAF-

Here is a pick of a '02 Maxima (from the forums)

Notice how mine does not have the piece of metal looping around.. Is this correct?

The 5.5 has the internal air temperature sensor integrated in the MAF.

I've yet to see a good write up with pics on transfering the IAT from a failed 5.5 MAF to a new 5.0 MAF; (because the dealership price is $400 and $100 respectively.) I would love to understand that better, before that day becomes a real need.

But anyway, I believe that's the diff. The IAT sensor.

Finally figured it out, it was the EGR plugs not being plugged into the sensors..
My MAF is okay, for now, knock on wood. Hopefully thats the only problem.

On another note-
Will only having my primaries plugged in give me horrible gas milage?

If both primary o2's are working, you don't need the secondaries (those monitor the precats), but if your primary o2's are bad, then the secondaries take over... aside from that, you're fine.

It's quite simple really, if you had both of them laying in front of you along with some soldering tools you could figure it out. Oh, and if it ever helps anyone, newer VW have the same maf, the circuit boards look a little different between the VW and maximas, but they are made by the same manufacturer and the IAT's are the same. I used the IAT from one on my wifes 5.5 gen when I swapped in a 5g maf, hers kinda exploded from some nitrous pooling..... oooops.......

Yeah I've been lurking on these forums for awhile because of my brother, finally joined

ya if the primaries are hooked up that shouldnt be a problem. Also, I dont think it makes a difference if you mix up the two white wires. I extended and rearranged mine a few times when I installed my OBX's and I didnt even pay any attention to the different white wires, they should be the same either way.

probly maf... have you checked for leaks? did you get a code since your SES came on?

Do you have any new noise from the headers that wasnt there before? I originally had a leak and my car sounded like a v8, once I tightened up all the bolts it went back to normal... depending where you live if it's cold enough, like it was for me here you can actually see exhaust leaking from under the car if you jack it up.

Take it to autozone or whatever you have near you and have them scan for codes. that should really help narrow it down.

I hear no noises other than my ridiculously loud exhaust. I tightened everything down hoping I wont have to take the intake manifold off again for a long time.
Ill have to wait till the end of the month to go over to autozone...

The 2 white wires on the o2 sensor are for the heater circuit. It doesn't matter if you mix them up. that's why they are both white. If it mattered they would be different colors

Search, dude. There's a thread about it. Here. It's on a 5.5, but the idea is pretty much exactly the same.

Really? You are driving a loud car on a suspended license? You are tempting fate, my brother got busted on a 1 mile drive to a girl's house several years ago.

This thread was from forever ago...
Got everything working. The EGR sensors were still unplugged. Plugged them in and I was good to go

Didn't see it was an old thread, noob bumped it. Good thing you got it going and didn't get nailed for a suspended license. My brother got a ride to the police station when he got caught.
