A few questions about the gab mod

Hi, recently I've been interested in doing the gab mod and I'm wondering if anyone know if there are any performance gains.
Can anyone confirm that having only 4 holes will be more benificial for sound and performance?
Anyone have any videos so I can hear the difference? Thanks

as for the sound part, do it and be your own professor lol. Performance might gain 1 hp if that. Sound though is like a g35 imo ESPECIALLY in cabin with a 6mt. Do it clean, no risks. Definitely worth it. Just make sure it's clean so it doesn't look like you "cheese cut" up your intake.

I would honestly just do use the "wire hanger method"...that's what I did and it sounds good from inside at 2500+. It takes about 5 mins to do and you dont have to destroy your car in the process if you mess up

I prefer the wire frame method as opposed to mutilating my stock filter holder.

Yeah, do the wire one. I have mine like that. It sounds amazing and it's reversible if you ever want to go back to stock (you never know)

I wouldn't trust a wire hanger to stay in place all the time. I think the holes actually look less ghetto than a coat hanger in my intake.imo At any rate you can make a home made short ram for like $20...

I think there was someone that actually put 2 holes instead of 4 and said that there was better pull from the car. I dont remember who tho..

I actually tried a "real" intake, I still like the GAB better, butt dyno estimates better numbers

I believe it was irish44j who did it, but he tested 4 holes vs. 8. I think he showed 1whp gain with 8 holes and 2whp gain with 4 holes. He also mentioned that the dyno runs may not be accurate to 1 whp so it may have just been a little fluke.

I didn't trust the wire hanger either, especially since I did a crappy job but, I must've checked it 20 times since I did it, half of which was in the first day after going over railraod tracks at a good clip and haven't had any problems...

...wow, that was a long sentence.

so he dynoed it and noticed a deffinate gain in performance....? thats bull crap he mentally wanted to feel a gain so his mind told him he did. he heard the intake for once finally and thought "oh wow this is a HP gain" you really dont gain much from an intake and your deffinatly not gunna feel much from it.

Do you bring your car to the track or compete in races a lot?

GAB has dyno'ed 9WHP gain and vs. short ram it doesn't lose torque down low which is dreaded by auto owners but rarely felt by 6-speed owners.
