the power source is via a/c...the other way i seen was on this site where the power comes from the parking lamps....other than the fact that i can run fogs with or without the parking lights on are there any other advantages or disadvantages???????

I did it purely for looks.
I did however also mod the fogs so the highbeams would not cut them off for more lighting.

Just for the looks. Fogs with running lights, but no headlights... it's kind of unique. (see my sig pic)

Hey whats up guys. I know this mod is not street legal (cant drive around with it without the headlights) But how about inspection??. Anyone from New york would know if the inspection station would actually check to see if your fogs come on with your headlights and would you fail? Any one from other states can help me out too if they know the regulationS for there state as well? Please Help

You can always tap the back the wire to the original before you get inspected.

depends on the time of day...if its in the middle of the night and dark...then no. if its cloudy...and late in the day...its completely fine to do it.

and how would you go about doing this? did you wire it to a switch? I was thinking of doing this because of the HID's in my fogs( they don't like to be turned on and off repeatedly)

edit: seems like the vqpower link would fit the bill, but is that the only way to do it?

It shouldn't be a problem at all. I have this mod done on my 5.5 and passed inspection with flying colors. I'm in NY BTW.

Sorry to disagree.

This mod has nothing to do with inspection and state legal rules.

My 3 series has a separate fog light switch and I can run them without the headlights or parking lights on.

Some evenings I run them with just the parking lights when its cloudy and without the low beams on.

I havent done this mod on the max but plan to do it alongwith my trans work.

Yea im interested also. Did the mod, but my high beams still cut off the fogs?
