I have a 2001 SE special edition. My transmission doesn't shift at all but can get it past 40. When i dropped the cover to change the fluid it had black like paper stuff in in but no medal? i got it scanned at auto zone and a couple codes came up. Mass airflow sensor, shift solenoid, and oxygen sensor what should i do? I bought new spark plugs but messed them up immediately.

you bought new spark plugs but messed them up immediately? what does that mean?

your tranny is most likely going out I wouls start scavaging the for sale section for a new tranny. or craigslist for a parts car with a tranny.

try replacing your shift solenoid that can cause your transmission not to shift at all.

Was the problem the transmission or how the car was running?

How did you end up trying to get the codes? Were the CEL's on?

What was the logic, why did you replace the plugs?

this post made no sense, what the spark plug has to do with anything with the transmission, i think it's probalby your knock sensor, unless you had your codes check, we can't assume anything unless you already know what those codes were from the Check engine light

Did they foul out from oil or gas? All cylinders or one cylinder. Similiarly, were the old plugs fouled out? I would think if it was oil, you would see smoke coming out the tail pipe. Most transmissions have a vacuum modulator to control shifting and the diaphram in it tears, the engine sucks tranny oil. But I really don't know if our cars have one.
