Transmission Filter Problems

I don't see anything on carpart.com that looks like it'd be worth it to me. Most of the transmissions within 500 miles of my zip code have close to 100K miles on them. At this point, I'm more inclined to go with the rebuilt core, unless someone says otherwise.
Scottwax, thanks for making a great point. I asked him to save all parts for me to see, and to keep his invoices for the parts he buys. We agreed on $1850 for the job.

In regards to the transmission screen that you can't remove. This is always an on-going problem for us do-it-yourselfers. Why they made it this way.....God only knows, and a couple nissan engineers. Found this in reference to 2002 I-35, and I think the Maxima is the same tranny.

Glad someone is looking out for us. I boought the screen several years ago and was never able to remove the old one.

You guys still don't get it. It is not a required service item. It is just a screen! Unless it gets a hole poked in it, don't mess with it. It doesn't clog. Just drain/refill fluid and any crap in the screen will eventually settle on the magnets, with no harm to the trans. uppet:
