Altima vs Maxima Half Shaft size/fitment

I bought a RS6F51H (6sp w/ LSD) swap from turbojeff a while back and will finally be getting around to putting the trans in later on this month. It was from a '02 Maxima (so that's why I'm posting in this forum).

I was cautioned on the other forum that the half shafts from the 5.5-gen Maxima are shorter than those of the 3rd-gen VQ Altima (mine) and wouldn't reach the hubs. Can anyone confirm? I just want to know prior to trying to lock them in (the old AT ones were a pain in the *** to get out).

My car is 03 Altima V6 that originally had a RE4FO4B (4AT). This is an AT-to-MT conversion. I have no ABS or TCS, so I should be able to use either ABS or non-ABS shafts (I think).

A quick lookup showed that the P/Ns are all different for the 5.5-gen, 6th-gen, early 3rd-gen Altima with 5MT and late 3rd-gen Altima with 6MT, with variant P/Ns for those with ABS and TCS AND there are different ones for the Altimas with the I4 2.5l motor. They can't ALL be different, can they?

Another member on that forum is using his original Altima 5MT half shafts with a Maxima RS6F51H. That's all I know.

Here's my progress thread, for reference: http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/eng...-6mt-swap.html

Thanks for the help.

ABS axles can be used on a non-ABS vehicle. The only difference is that there is an ABS ring that the sensor reads from on the ABS axle. So if you tried to put a non-ABS axle into a vehicle with ABS, you would have to swap over the ring or the system would not work.

As far as the axles go, why not just source manual axles from either an se-r altima?
But on the maximas, people have used 6th gen axles on their 5.5 gens.

Thanks for the reply.
So, 5.5-gen half shafts are the same as 6th-gen half shafts?
The reason why I am hesitant to source the 5MT Altima or 6MT Altima SE-R half shafts is because I already have the 5.5-gen ones from Jeff.
I'm asking now so I don't run into a surprise in the coming weeks once I try to bolt them in. So I just need to confirm that the 5.5-gen and 6th-gen are the same length as the Altima ones.
