Catalytic Converter Gasket question

I have an 2002 Altima SE 3.5, 5 speed. I just replaced the with an engine from an 2003 Maxima. I bought both new catalytic converters. I am set except the gasket between the front exhaust manifold and catalytic converter is no good. I have checked with the local dealership and they don't show a gasket. I believe the Maxima's gasket is the same, does anyone know what the part number is or where I can get the gasket.

It's about $8 dollars. Go to http://www.courtesyparts.com. They have the picture under the exhaust section.

Here is a picture of the front cat

I need to know the gasket between the cat and the manifold.

djfrestyl is selling some converter gaskets in the classified section. Perhaps it's what you're looking for.Check the link below:
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...xes-p0430.html

Edit: I realized that the cat in your picture looks like a 6-bolt top flange; I'm not sure if those gaskets fit your car since the picture of the cat he's linking has a 5-bolt top flange pattern.

Thanks nelsito!

The flange itself on the precat is flush mount with the header, no gasket goes between the holes. The gasket actually goes in the recessed part of the pre-cat.

This set-up is similar to our exhaust gasket for b-pipe/muffler - just a circle/ring WITHOUT tabs/wings for the bolt holes.

To the OP, I'm very certain my gaskets are what you need.

Pretty sure this is my exact same situation, except mine’s a 2000 GXE.

I took my car in to the muffler shop for an exhaust leak last week, and the technician actually found a second leak between the exhaust manifold and the front catalytic converter (aka pre-cat?). He said he’s tried before to find that gasket but has never had any luck locally and advised me to search for it myself. My front cat is the one that has the 5-bolt pattern on the flange.

Obviously the part djfrestyl was selling above is no longer available, but does anyone know the part number I need to look for? Is it the same part number for my model year that he mentioned in his classified post (20822-3Y110 & 20840-3Y110)?

You are going to need to know. 99-01 Cali spec has the 5 bolt flange on the front precat (radiator side). It is very different than the Fed spec which has a 3 bolt flange.

BTW its not the same as the 02+ 3.5 which is what this thread is about.

Thanks. Well, shocker to me—visited my local stealership and had them run the VIN: my car is CA emissions. I’m at a loss for how, given I bought it in Pennsylvania from people who had previously lived in Maryland. I guess I didn’t read the Carfax report close enough…

(Edit: apparently both MD and PA follow CA emissions standards.)

Dealership was able to order the two parts mentioned above (which have both been superseded by newer part numbers) for about $60 total including tax. I’d have ordered it via the links but the relatively small $13 upcharge for quicker pick-up (Saturday) was worthwhile. Thanks for the help!
