Hi all.

Today, when I got in the car and put it in reverse, nothing..

I dont know what happened, but it wont go in reverse and it just makes an unusual sound... like the tranny is turning, but not engaging. It only goes in drive.

I would appreciate if anyone might share some ideas of what to check/look for. Is this something that is a new tranny need? Solonoid? Other...?

i might say Selenoids and TCM....

 

sounds like it could be time for a rebuild...my reverse went and then shortly after that (15 mins) I lost 2nd and 3rd gear

 

Miles, Maintaince history, Kind of driver (abusive/nice) etc would help.

 

Thanks for the info. Its got 107K and been good and bad on driving style. mostly good for the last year. went to tranny place about 8K miles ago and fluid seemed ok. but it has been shifting weird from 2nd to 3rd for a while

 

ehh.. im scared my trans is going to go at any minute.. but recently it has been shifting nice and firm.. i have a squeak @ 2nd to 3rd shift...

 

What PM have you folks done over the years, trannies don't just fail all of a sudden becoz you have hit 100K?

Drains/Fills, Flushes, Tranny drop, inline filters etc.

 

it's common for reverse gear go out first before the rest, that's signs the transmission need a rebuild
