5 weeks ago took car in, dealer has been good to me, they found TSB 01-059 regarding the coil packs for cars that ping intermittenly. coils came in yesterday, they have a diffrent color code from the stock ones. took 0.45 hrs to install, car is running great, not sluggish anymore and pinging/knocking went away!!!!

how noticeable was the pinging on yours? Also, did it happen at a specific rpm range?

 

mine was very noticeable and the timing would retard and the car looses a bit of power. after getting out fo first gear and into 2nd gear and you step on the gas it would ping 1/10 times or so. mostly in 2nd gear, or heavy acceleration to get on the highway.

never threw a code, drove the car 3 times with dealer and was able to make it ping once. tech is very good and easy to work with.

somewhere i read here it was like 80 bucks each ....hmmmm times 6 ..woooooo .......

 

I think $60 each or cheaper... spoke to Dave about it but don't remember the exact price.

 

hmmm... thats not so bad... making sure your coils are good is more important for you since you are boosted... pinging with boost is very bad

 

But I not pinging. Plugs seem to look fine.

Ping + boost = *BOOM*

 

if you are pinging, what do your plugs look like? Burnt look?

 

White tipped = lean

Black crud = rich

 

i should check mine just for fun

 

But then you'll have to put them back in.

Use anti-seize, but don't get it on your hand because you'll get slippery fingers.
