hahah I guess its an aquired skill, Ive driven a coilover'd car since I was like 16. I can tell you where every dip and pothole in the city is hahaha.

Do you have headers and exhaust on your car? On 146 I was driving next to you in my boys x5 and I couldnt even hear your car it was super quiet.

Jeff, any updates? I'd really like to see the half/half headlight combo on a Sheer Silver. It keeps your car's theme going.

Op, the headlights look great. This has definitley convinced me to get this project rolling.. I see you opted to just leave the circles unpainted, rather than leaving the whole piece. I really love the look and how it stays very subtle. +1

Did your headlights have data dots? I know mine do and i'm having a little trouble getting them off. I heard that it is hard to do without taking the whole bumper off which seems to be pita in that of itself. I understand that people do not want this information publicized, so if someone could pm and tell me how to go about doing this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks it took some time getting used to but i love it now. i think what sets it off is the tintedd marker lights to bring it all together. Teh Bawney, looks mint i love black cars. this is just my preference but if you had that hyper silver, the darker tinted silver, for rims i thin kthat would look sick. Still looks bada$$ either way. longIsland, yea i have the data dots. pm me and ill let you know what you need to do.

Now if i could only get another 100horses to the wheels it would be a killer ride.

I know I'm bumping an old thread but I can't seem to find the answer using search. Where exactly were people buying the blacked out front/rear side makers? I could only find smoked or clear ones on ebay. Anyone help me out?

i dont think anyone is buying them (sidemarkers) blacked out, i believe they're painting them or even smoking/tinting them dark, ive never heard of buying sidemarkers blacked out, only cleared, smoked or oem amber/red

i took mine off and scuffed them up with some 600-800 grit sandpaper. them i got the RC paint you can find at any hobby store. Dont remember name but it is for the windows of RC cars. i then sprayed it on to the lights till i got the desired color, let dry and sealed with a clear coat.

Ok, I did see that some people were painting them when I did the search. Jeff do yours show the light color clearly at night like soonerfans do? I like how black they look during the day. Additionaly do you think it matters if you paint a smoked pair vs a cleared pair of sidemakers?

mine are fairly black in the day unless the sun hits them and the light reflects in and shows the color. at night the bulbs show the colors perfectly well when lit.

Can anyone you guys know do the blackened headlights and cleared blinker job, I am willing to pay and ship it. I read all the DIYs but I am reluctant cause I don't want to mess it up.

Basically like zero2sixty. Preferably in Canada

Please please help

Figured since this post was brought back from the dead i would give an update. I had tinted or smoked the side-marker lights. After smoking them i cleared them. For the second time the paint is fading: chipping off. I know i prepped them and m all the stuff was clean but maybe that plastic doesn't take wll to paint on them. Seems like im gonna look into ebay side-markers just not sure whether to get the clear or smoked in regards to how it will look overall with my new rims.

Im thinking smoked?..

Did you sand them with 800-1000 grit sandpaper?

yea i cleaned them, then took i think it was 160 grit and then used a red (maroon) scotchbrite pad to smooth the surface. Then i did about 3 light coats with the shade and then 3 or 4 with clear.

What an odd first post. You wanted to show who your painted lower front lip?

Either way, let's see it with pictures that actually showcase the work.

i just sanded down the exterior of my headlights with 2000grit sand paper, used turtle polishing compound, then wax- and all the yellow crap is gone. the headlights are smooth, and crystal clear now. im thinking of taking them apart and doing an anodized black inside.
