Thinking about selling the 2k

@ 236k miles and living around all this snow in Maryland. I'm thinking about selling the max and use it as a down payment on either a 03-05 pathfinder or buying my moms 04 max and she get either Infiniti EX or a new max

Do it, idk how much you'll be able to get out of your max with those miles tho.

Me too. But only 67K original miles on my 01 and no car payment is way nicer!

At 236K it sounds like youve already gotten your money's worth out of it, if you dont totally hate the car and its in good shape and not being a money pit, run it until it dies, beats having a payment...

its actually turning into a money pit... list of issue right now... 1. hole in the exhaust smoke coming from the rear tires wheel well instead of the muffler. 2. belts squeaking bad evertime i start the car belt squeak when i turn on the a/c gets loud when i turn off the a/c it stops for a lil while then comes back. 3. needs new motor mounts. 4. sunroof doesn't work 5.new front axle and tire rod. 6 also the service engine light come on and off 7. when put into gear it thumps hard from park to drive or reverse and if i push the gas to fast whole car shakes then the transmission catches it and keeps going... other then those issues i still like the maxima and think the 30th aniversairy which is next year should have awd and a 3.7 and if that does come out i will be one of the first inline to get that.. for now i need something more reliable and the thought of putting the money up to fix everything is like half way to getting something newer with less miles. 236k is a job well done to me and if i can get anything off it toward something with less miles would be great. found a 2001 QX4 with 123k blk/blk for 9800 that i might be able to have paid off in time for my 2011 max... i know the engine can go past 250k since i done it but that doesn't mean the rest of the part will last as long and what it worth is < what it will cost to fix..

It's a tough call. It looks like the list of issues is pretty long, you mentioned a 2011 Max, those should be out sometime this year. They usually release the next years models way early. If you can make the Max last another 8 or 9 months, then go buy a new one. Instead of paying on a car in between.

How close to now are you thinking of selling it? Even with the probs listed I still think you're better off keeping it b/c anyone who would buy it would probably try to use the car's probs against you.

If problems are mentionned & written down on paper and the buyer is willing to buy the car with those, what's the problem?

I'm not talking about after the buyer is willing to buy, I'm talking about that point between the buyer being informed of the problems and him/her still willing to buy.

Even still, if a buyer is willing to buy...he may not be willing to buy for the seller's desired (albeit discounted) amount. It's the whole:

"Oh I like the car but you've got this broken, and that broken, and this needs fixing...there's no way I could give you what you're asking."

Don't get me wrong, many a time there are legitimate concerns and reasons for a lower price...but at the same time many people can get ridiculous and will attempt to talk your price down to the point where you're paying them to take the car.
