Lowering Springs Question

I was wondering what you guys think about these springs? Are they a good brand/quality? Its a 2001 Maxima.

Good quality brand, drops the car a good amount. It's highly recommended that you buy upgraded struts with these springs, the aftermarket spring rate is not matched to the dampening/rebound of the OEM struts.

I used k sports, 2'' drop on front and back with stock struts and didnt have any problems..

I am now on k sport coilovers.

I have the S-Tech's on KYB GR2's ... and with the drop they give you will stress the hell out of your stock struts. see my sig. for what they will drop you down too.

y not go tk hp blues they are cheap and good quality, y does everyone get iluminas. Also i thought u should always have a larger drop in the front then in the back.

How is the comfort of the ride with that combo? Your car looks like it has a perfect drop. I have always believed that I should just spend the extra money for a good set of coilovers, but I must admit the thought of how much I could save if I were to go for a set-up such as that, is quite tempting.

To me the drop is perfect as for the ride I didn't feel that I lost that much from the old 4x4 looking ride perhaps its because the roads I travel on aren't that bad. I will be doing the ball joints and end links this spring, as they are showing signs of wear at 186,000k so they should. I love the ride and how the car sinks right down when you push hard and accelerate through turns, good set of tires helps you stick to the road. I have a set of 16" steelies and snows on right now so the car really looks hot sucked down to the road. I just can't justify the cost for coilovers although there are many guys that swear by them, going with adjustable Iluminas or KYB AGX so one can stiffen the strut when they want would be the only change I would do if I had to change anything.

I can't speak on the H-Tech's ... I can tell you I love the ride, the look and the handling from my S-Tech's

I have rode in a 00 mitsubishi galant witht them and they definitely produce. I'm actually about to purchase some Tein S Techs and Tokico Illuminas within the next week for my 00 maxima SE

I Had Tein S.Tech's and KYB GR2's on my 01. Loved the drop, look and handling on corners. Although for daily comfort driving, make sure you choose smooth roads to travel other wise it will be a bumpy ride! Good Luck! IMO, go with the S.Techs if you are looking for an aggressive drop!

FWIW, by the time you invest in all of this, you could get a decent set of coil-overs.

Let's break it down:

S-Techs: $225
Illuminas: $450 give or take
New Strut Mounts: $200 give or take if you go OEM from Nissan
Grand Total: About $875

And that's excluding labor if you don't know how to install them yourself. For that price, you can order a set of K-sport coilovers off of eBay and get a nice, even drop without the loss of suspension travel.

I was originally going to go for the Progress Springs + Illumina setup, but now I'm just going to bite the bullet, save up, and get some K-sports, sell off my lowering springs and be done with it.

The ride on lowering springs and struts is rough. I rode in my friend's Accord (he's got Eibach coilovers I believe) and the ride was completely different. And his car is, I believe, is about 3" off the ground.

previous owner had those installed on the Maxima i just bought. um he had them on stock struts and IMO looked too " slammed " . he gave them to me with the sale of the car but i will most likely not install these ...

may just end up selling them

here is what they looked like installed




not sure what they're worth, but if you want them i'd sell them for a good price ..

i'd have to go outside and grab the part # off of the box

Damn! I've heard of and have knowledge of cutting springs (currently riding on Maxspeeds with front cut), but have never seen anyone go to that extreme. WTH?

Shoulda just cut factory springs instead of wasting money on the S-tech's. Probably just throw them away because I highly doubt anyone would want to buy those hacked springs!

"General" rule of thumb, don't cut more than 1 ring off and definately don't cut extreme drop springs any more than they already are...

I like the Eibach Springs best but I got 20's on my car but would of went for those if I had stock or some 18's.

s-techs are great if you like a pathetically weak spring rate, no suspension travel, and love riding aroudn on your bumpstops.

cliffs: they're quite possibly the worst spring you could put on a 5th gen maxima.

h-techs are not as bad, but the rate is still ridiculously soft and you'll be on the bumpstops constantly, even if you cut them.

go with eibachs if you want a good rate, good handling, and good ride. Or if you can find an old set of Maxspeeds, they're decent too.

if you must slam it, go with some quality coilovers.
