Buying new clutch
Buying new clutch
Hi im gonna be buying A new clutch soon and i was wondering what some of the opinions that some of yall have on a stage 1 spec clutch and a fidanza 11lbs fly wheel. does anyone here have either of these installed on there car? How does the spec clutch feel ? and do yall have any other sugetions for clutches ?
I just bought a ACT 6-puck Z34 clutch and Fidanza flywheel. I can let you know what I think about it. Haven't heard much about the Spec. What are you looking for in the clutch? Performance? Stock feel? Durability?
if you are stock i don't see the point of going for anything more than a stage 1. with the lightened flywheel the car will rev up like a bike.
I've heard problem with the spec, either love it or hate it, I'm running an exedy stage one and it hold my close to 300 hp with no problems

well my car is only slightly modified right now so that is y i am only going with a stage one clutch. but im trying to find a good clutch that wont break the bank . does anyone have any suggestions ?
Another option is the 350z clutch with the Fidanza flywheel. I've read that it is equal to the Exedy stage 1 in terms of clamping force and stiffness.
You must use the Maxima throw out bearing if you use the 350z clutch. And you can use the 350zHR clutch also.
Also remember that the Exedy stage 1 has a sprung clutch disc, so it is really recommended to get a solid flywheel like the Fidanza for use with that clutch.
Also, if you get an oem replacement clutch, you shouldn't use the Fidanza as it is not a dual mass flywheel like the stock one.
So basically you want either a sprung flywheel and solid disc (this is how it is stock), or a sprung disc and solid flywheel, but NOT neither and NOT both. One or the other.
FWIW- The part number for the proper OEM replacement clutch that can be used with the stock flywheel is Exedy NSK1002. It is for the Altima and Maxima, 3.5.

spec clutches are absolute fvcking trash. please do yourself a favor and get something else, almost anything else.
If you're stock or just basic bolt ons with no racing on drag slicks then get an OEM clutch.
If you're more modded or will be actually racing the car on drag radials or drag slicks get ACT, Exedy, RPS, South Bend, etc.
