Hydro-plane incident: UPDATE

As some of you here read I had a hydroplane accident last week and although there was no body damage I messed up my suspension pretty bad. In two days visiting the repair shop I spent $1300 dollars for new front struts and 4 new tires. My rear Z rims were trashed and my car still didn't ride right. A deeper inspection showed that my rear bearings are gone and my rear camber is way out of tolerance. Right I said rear camber, which the 03 Maxima's don't have a way to adjust.

It turns out that my rear axle is bent and will have to be replaced as well, (another $500-800 dollars). To make a long story short I ended up calling my insurance company, (USAA) and explained the accident and that I didn't get a police report. I faxed them my receipts, and they referred me to a shop that is going to fix my baby right. They're also going to replace my two bent wheels and pay for two new tires as well. All I'll be out now is my deductible and the cost of a rental car for a few days.

The lesson here, always get a police report and don't be afraid to file a claim with your insurance company. I was under the impression that an "accident" always involved another vehicle or something impacting your car. Wrong, this is classified as a natural event and is covered under comprehension.

Good info. My rear axle beam is slightly bent as well. Both of my rear wheels point slightly inwards and of course, there is no way of adjusting that without replacing the beam.

Maybe the axel is bent in a good way? What are the camber specs?

Good to know with the hydro being covered. Hey could be worse too, at least its not totaled or anything.
