picking up a 2000 2000 5spd SE 2night and......

....i've been doing some research on this "VAIS" failure and the easy fix for it. now here's the problem: obviously im gonna test drive it but the problem is that i drive a big powerful V8 everyday.
stepping into a car with 100 hp less is not my problem; but being able to detect that the VAIS is working or not IS the problem.
upon reading the fix, the difference between a working and non-working VAIS is about 30hp. obviously the car is gonna feel slower than my M, but detecting how slow, is the problem.
obviously the way to fix the problem (if there is one) is to just do the fix, but i wanted to know if there is a trick into detecting it upon driving.
lemme know what you guys think.

Unless you drive a car that you know has a working VIAS I cant see how you could tell..

Ive never fixed mine, and since I got it its never felt "slower."

This weekend I am doing this though..

it's a minor problem imo. This forum is probably one of the most organized forums out there. We got plenty of people who can help ya. Drive it and just check for th basics. oil, smells, ac, decent pull... etc. There's no way to surely know how to tell if it's working or not. Make sure no Cel and just enjoy the car(hopfeully) and dont be afrraid to step away if anything seems wrong.
