Motor Mounts Replacement

Ok, so I need to install my new motor mounts. I got 3 new OEM motor mount assemblies, and I'm going to put them in soon. I planned on replacing one mount at a time with the other 2 mounts supporting the engine. Is that possible, or do I need to support the engine with something while I replace every mount?

I just changed 3 of the 4 mounts. The 2 bottom mounts on the cross member and the transmission mount on the drivers side.

I put a jack under the oil pan with a block of wood just enough to hold the wood in place. Then I removed the crossmember and 2 bottom mounts. Replaced those and then moved to the transmission mount.

When I was finished I removed the jack and wood.

use the jack stand and wood method. when i did my front and rear mounts once i unbolted the mount the engine sank down really quick, kinda scary. i ran out and jacked it up right away. better safe than sorry. good luck!

yeah, when my mechanic was putting my headers in, he dropped the crossmember on a lift with nothing supporting the engine, and it was moving a whole lot! i was kinda scared, lol

Doesnt take much to support when removing the crossmember. I used a piece of 2x4 between the jack and the tranny casing to hold in place while replacing the crossmember mounts.

Once they are done, you can then do the tranny mount pretty easily without any support. Crossmember will hold engine in place. Then use same 2x4 under tranny to raise/lower engine until it matches up to tranny mount.

Basically same as the tranny mount. I used a jack with a wooden block under the oil pan to raise the engine just enough to allow the main bolt slide in and out with ease.

Putting a load on the Oil pan in ANY WAY is a VERY bad idea.

Same procedure. You need to remove the crossmember to get the rear replaced.
