Blown Strut

Will not driving your car much cause your struts/shocks to blow sooner. I just replaced all my struts with OE shocks/struts I ordered from courtseyparts back in May of 2008. I had 74000 miles on the car at the time and now I have 76000 miles. I only drive the car mainly weekends and recently I noticed my drivers side strut is blown. I just ordered another one, but a friend of mine said because I bearly drive the car is the reason the strut went bad...

Faulty workmanship on that strut is why it went bad more than likely. I could see his logic if the car sat for say 6 months at a clip, but not if you're driving it weekly. You're out of warrantee on the part now I'm sure, so it is what it is.

BTW, You should get smarter friends... j/k

Whoa. I ordered them for www.courtseyparts.com for 132.00 each and had a local shop put them on. All 4 installed with alignment 250.00. You may be able to find someone to install them cheaper. Parts only cost 528.00 but thats for Nissan OE shocks/struts. You can get all 4 tokico blues for 300.00 or even illuminas for 430.00. I had the blues and didn't like the soft ride so I switched back to stock and I am happy again. Blues are way to soft in the rear and made my car feel like a caddy..

Boondox, I was under the impression an alignment should occur after the new suspension is settled in, like a week or so later. Yes, No?

Nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'm looking forward to it! Blues go on in about 6 weeks.

Yeah, but if you did that at a dealership, they should offer you lifetime warrantee. I agree that's pricy, I had an olds intrigue that they offered to do all 4 for around the same price. I traded it in for the Max...

I had a Lincoln Continental a while back, had an air strut go bad. Replacement for one side was over $900 if i recall...they wanted to swap the compressor for something like another $700, I told them I'd be back if it broke, for for now, just replace what's broken.
