What is the best way to race an automatic?
What is the best way to race an automatic?
im talking just street racing, like at a stoplight or something. i have seen a few people say they manually shift 1st and 2nd, and that they turn the OD off. do i shift manually right at the redline then? does turning the OD off really help? should i be holding the break pedal and reving the engine? do you want to avoid letting your tires slip at all or is it better to let them spin a bit? any other tips that will give me an edge in a street race?
thanks
thanks

When light turns green, take foot off brake.
Place foot on gas pedal.
Put pressure down on gas pedal.
Maintain pressure until you either win or lose.
If you win, move hand to hazards, and maintain pressure.
If you lose, disengage pressure and move foot to brake pedal.

OOOH! I get it now.

Just curious about something. I've been to the track a few times now and all the serious cars that run either 11's, or 12 second quarter mile, they all have automatic. I'm talking about a few corvettte's, mustangs, and a couple of civics and DSM cars. Is there an advantage on the track for a automatic?

the reason the fastest autos are because of a special mod for autos only thats called new tc with higher stall speed. gives autos great launches and a good slush box can shift faster than any human. good does not mean stock nissan unfortunately... a racing slush with higher tc will beat a manual int he same car...
