We have had record snowfall here in the greater ATL and there has been a ton of accidents around town because of the snow and ice. Us here, we really do not know how to drive in the snow, ice, rain (heck even in summer time!)!!!!
Been having snow today and unfortunately my MAX did not escape it this time. The car was silently parked in my son's school. They were released early and surprise, surprise! Somebody did a hit and run and the rear bumper is kaput!
May the culprit's (his/her) soul rot in purgatory for not owning up to the damage!
The rear bumper fell into pieces! I will post pics later.

Yes. The weather here is stupid. It's my fault it happened, too. I've never paid to have my car detailed until Saturday. The car looked showroom new, so of course, it couldn't only rain, it had to snow, too.
Now I know that whoever had my car repaired before did not install all the components. There should have been foam in between the bumper and the aluminum bars...
Hence the freeking thing snapped into pieces.
Bumpers are supposed to be designed for 5 MPH crash without being damaged.
Oh well!

Its a pretty easy job to drop the rear fender fascia and pop a new one on. Only problem I had was the bolt thats right under the tail lights. When you try to line those up, once you get close to the body the gap to see the bolt is gone.

EDIT: Stinking tinypic seems to have problems, so I uploaded the image to Imagehost and went with the thumbnail image on here.

sorry to see that mandyfig, that's brutal. and ya by the picture you have posted your definitely missing the inner buffer, I can see straight in right down to you muffler.
We got 12.5" of snow in Dallas a few weeks ago. It really isn't so much the drivers as the lack of snow removal equipment (no plows), sand instead of salt, no one has snow tires, etc.
An old Celica I used to have got hit in a parking lot on a snowy day in Dallas-high that day was 29...and it was 65 the day after!

Wow, I didn't know the bumper was so brittle! I apologize on the hit and runner's behalf. Luckily (or unluckily?) the snow didn't stick to the ground here in Stone Mountain, so everything was business as usual.

Man, that sucks.
Any chance that the school had parking lot cameras? That helped a friend of mine when someone smashed the rear end of his Civic and decided to leave. The camera got everything.
